Casting a Vision for 2015 at 18 South

God has laid it heavy upon our hearts to open 18 South Youth Center five days a week and hire a second employee in 2015, and so we are on a mission to make it happen.

Before our first full-time employee was hired in June 2012, 18 South’s volunteer base was only able to maintain opening on Friday evenings for the youth of Red Lion to come in and hang out. As soon as we hired our director, we were able to also open on Thursday evenings. We followed God’s lead in April 2014 by launching our after school programming with a Study Hall offering on Wednesday afternoons. Just last month in February 2015 we expanded our after school offerings to include an Open Studio art program on Monday afternoons. Local teens have responded positively to these new programs with 10-15 attendees on both Mondays and Wednesdays.

We have been amazed at all the ways God has provided the financing and volunteer support needed to make His vision a reality. As such, we are pleased to announce that 18 South will officially be open five days a week during the 2015-2016 school year with the migration of our Grub Club cooking program from a monthly time slot to a weekly Tuesday afternoon offering. We are thrilled to be able to provide a free meal to teens on a weekly basis, thanks to the generous contribution of Living Word Community Church, which is sponsoring our food costs for the entire upcoming school year.

As 18 South moves closer to being open five days a week, our need for a second employee grows stronger. You can help make this vision a reality by signing up to become a Partner of Hope with 18 South by contributing $20 per month to our organization. If you own a business, you can partner with 18 South by becoming a Pillar of Hope by donating $125 per quarter. We ask that you prayerfully consider how the Lord might be leading you to support our work and ensure our ability to build a legacy of Love and Hope within the community.
