Help 18 South Hire Max Halterman

My name is Max Halterman, and I am currently the volunteer assistant director of 18 South Youth Center, which serves nearly 300 at-risk teenagers each year in Red Lion, Pa. I would like to take a few moments of your time to introduce myself and share with you my desire to become a full-time ministry worker at our youth center.

I graduated from Messiah College in 2013 with a degree in Music Education. Soon after moving back home to southern York County following graduation, I began volunteering at 18 South every week while working as a substitute teacher. During the past 18 months, I have fallen in love with the work that we do at the center and have also been seeking God more diligently than I ever have before about what my future holds. I have come to realize that God’s plan for me right now is not in teaching music, but instead I feel a very strong calling to ministry as the second full-time employee at 18 South.

During my time at 18 South, our center has grown by leaps and bounds. Our monthly attendance has doubled, with 95 different teens visiting the center each month. The growth has been exciting, and God is doing incredible work. Along with this growth, there have inevitably been some growing pains. Our list of volunteers is not growing fast enough to keep up with our attendance figures, and the amount of work needed to keep the center running is quickly surpassing what our single full-time employee can handle. In particular, we are launching an after school program in September that will have the doors to the center open 5 days a week.

Would you consider financially supporting the creation of my position, which will double the amount of time and attention our local youth receive? You can help out as an individual or family by donating $20 per month as a Partner of Hope, or you can help out as a business by giving $125 per quarter as a Pillar of Hope. Please visit our donation page to sign up, and thank you so much for prayerfully considering your support!

In Christ’s Love,
Max Halterman
