18 South Receives $1.2k FLY Grant

On April 19, 2017, 18 South Youth Center was awarded a $1,200.00 grant from the Future Leaders of York, which is a program of Leadership York that allows high school sophomores and juniors to learn to become lifelong, responsible, active participants in their hometown community. 18 South was one of four York County organizations supported by this grant program in 2017. Jessica Cauller (center) and Max Halterman (right) were presented the award by a Future Leaders of York student (left). Jessica is the executive director of People That Care (PTC) Youth Services, which owns and operates 18 South Youth Center. Max is the director of 18 South.

The funds from the Future Leaders of York will be used to support 18 South’s Grub Club after school cooking program, which provides a family meal experience for local teens who are in need of it on Tuesday afternoons during the school year. 18 South’s after school activities will resume in September on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m. All after school programming is free for local teens, grades 7-12. In addition to providing enriching activities and healthy snacks, the programs aim to provide a safe, positive environment where youth can be encouraged.
