What Are We Doing Wednesdays

Each Wednesday the center will offer a different class, activity, or presentation. The variety of offerings is limitless and we will be working hard to provide quality, engaging, valuable, and exciting opportunities to students.

Music & Arts

Music and Arts are essential to any healthy community! Our Music and Arts Room is regularly stocked with art supplies, paints, canvases, color pencils, crafting supplies, clay, and more. Also, we have a variety of instruments available for students to use daily including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, ukuleles, drums, and more.

Staff is currently available for free beginner level guitar and bass instruction.

We also host a variety of Music and Arts Events throughout the year including Live Shows from young musicians and bands, Art Galleries, and instruction classes.

Collaborative Classes

We love collaborating with our community to bring opportunities to our students. We regularly offer classes on essential skills for students to learn outside of the traditional classroom. These classes have included Basic Gardening, Baking, Responding to Peer Pressure, Creative Writing, and so many more.

Community partners bring classes in and they are offered on an ongoing basis as they are available. These have included exciting opportunities like Flight Simulator Training, Electricity 101, Dangers of Vaping, Healthy Lifestyle Choices, and so much.

Dungeons & Dragons

Fridays: 9pm-12am

Thursdays: 4-7pm (RLASD Club)

We strongly believe in the power of imagination and play. We run Dungeons and Dragons RPG games on a weekly basis as a way for students to connect and work on essential skills like creative problem-solving, teamwork, innovation, and strategic thinking.

Cyber Mondays

The center is open from 12-3pm on Mondays to students who do school virtually and are enrolled in Cyber School. The goal is to create a space for students to increase their productivity with school work and to have adult mentors available to assist in anyway they are able. Lunch will be provided and there will be a No-Re-Entry policy in effect during these hours.

No Tech Tuesdays

In our ongoing effort to improve mental health in young people in the community, each Tuesday we turn off the TVs, computers, and video games. We encourage students to put their phones away and we offer a variety of “no-tech” activities including art, music, board games, cooking and baking, group activities, and more. This is a time for all of us at the center to disconnect from technology and reconnect in real life.

Where We Going Wednesdays

The highlight of our Summer Programs; every Wednesday during the summer we take students to a new place or for a new experience. Many students may not have the opportunity to travel or visit places where cost may be prohibitive. We believe in the need for young people to have experiences and see new places. Trips in the past have included Philadelphia, Baltimore Aquarium, Washington DC, Beaches, Waterfalls, Trampoline Parks, River Tubing, and more!
